Stepwise approach
We believe the best way for students to acquire basic academic skills and master material is to do so in a stepwise fashion; therefore, our instructors use a scaffolded approach to incrementally teach concepts.
One size does not fit all
We feel strongly that instruction should be tailored to students’ individual needs because each student has unique strengths and weaknesses.
Compassion and rapport as building blocks to a successful relationship
Understanding where students are coming from and establishing rapport are vital to making a connection with them and strengthening their receptivity for learning.
“Without Bounds has provided my son with qualified, thorough tutoring during his middle school and high school years. Not only do we appreciate their professionalism and academic knowledge, but we are also grateful for their sincere warmth and kindness, resulting in a lifelong friendship.” Donna H.
Helping students use strengths to offset weaknesses
Every student has learning strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately, many students focus solely on their limitations and ignore their strong points. This type of skewed view only leads to low self-esteem and decreased motivation. By showing students their own strengths and teaching them how to use those strengths to their best advantage, they can compensate for their weaknesses and view the learning experience more positively.
Developing internal motivation through positive reinforcement
Students with low motivation do not have an internal device prompting them to learn for learning’s sake. When they are praised for small successes, the act of learning becomes associated with positive feedback.
“I spent my whole childhood struggling to develop a good work ethic. It wasn’t my ability to learn but my drive that was lacking. With the help of Without Bounds, I became motivated to do well in school and eventually graduated college and found a job that I love.” Ben R.
Organizational and time management skills as foundations for successful learning
In order for students to have a command of their studies, they have to know how to easily access class materials and how to plan for assignments and exams.
